Dubai is sometimes referred to as the ‘Golden City.’ It’s understandable. No tourist to the UAE’s most popular city will ever leave without receiving a gold gift. Work Visa Dubai Requirements
You need to fulfill certain requirements to get a job in Dubai. You may require a residence visa along with a work permit. Apart from the above, foreign nationals looking for a job in Dubai need the following documents:

When you reach Dubai, you have to undergo a medical examination called GAMCA. You also need to get the Dubai work permit. For that, you have to produce the employer’s contract in Dubai, birth certificate copy, marriage certificate copy and passport copy. You also need to provide the authorities with proof of accommodation in Dubai City. A financial statement or bank statement may also be required for the past three months.
How To Apply for Dubai Work Visa?
When trying to procure the work visa for Dubai, you need to keep in mind that your employer will be doing all the formalities on your behalf. The employer is also supposed to bear the visa fees, apart from completing all documentation formalities. The application process is as listed below.
- The employer is the one who will be applying on your behalf to the Ministry of Labor. This is the norm for the employer when they are hiring a foreign employee.
- Initially, you will get the entry permit visa that entails you to a stay of a month in Dubai.
- After travelling to Dubai, you have 60 days’ time in hand to get the residence visa.
- The employer will help you obtain the work permit, once you reach Dubai. They also call it the labor card.
- You also have to visit the Emirates ID Services Center, to get an ID. There you have to show your passport.
- You have to visit a government hospital after completing the above procedures. There you have to get your medical tests done.
- The immigration channel is the one that you need to take to apply for a residency visa.
- The officials will stamp the visa on your passport after completing all the above formalities.
Once you complete the above process from start to finish, you can start working in Dubai.
Work Visa Dubai Processing Time
The Dubai Government does not specify any timeline to process the Dubai visa. However, it has been seen that it takes 2-7 days to get the visa processed. This will enable one to get an entry permit. After getting the entry permit, you can enter the country and stay in the country for 60 days. Within this time frame your employer will assist you to obtain your residency visa.

- You have to be at least eighteen to obtain a Dubai work visa, however, there is no maximum age limit for anyone who wants to work in Dubai.
- The company you are going to work for needs to have a valid license, and should not have violated any laws laid by the UAE government.
- On average, the work visa costs about it is AED 7,000 ($ 1,900).
- The first work permit that you receive is valid for 30 days. You can extend it for another month or 30 days. So, you have 60 days’ time in hand. During this time, your employer will arrange for your residence visa. Apart from this, you also need an ID and your labor card.
- You can also renew your visa later after it expires. The main residency visas are issued for 1–3-year periods, which are renewable. So, you now have all the information to make your career in Dubai.
- If you are trying to go to Dubai and work there, you should be aware that the country has three categories to demarcate workers. In category one, you should at least have a bachelor’s degree. In the second category, you should have a post graduate diploma in any field. The third category is for ones who have a high school qualification.
