Canada Welcomes 787 PNP Candidates to apply for Permanent Residency through Express Entry

Details

On April 13,2022 Canada welcomed 787 Express Entry applicants to apply for permanent residency. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) solely invited individuals from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in the current invitation round. Candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of at least 782 to be invited. The minimum score looked high because PNP candidates got an automatic 600 point boost when they obtained their nomination. The lowest-scoring candidates would have 182 base points on the express entry pool before they had been nominated for PNP.

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is determined by the date and time their Express Entry profiles were submitted. Candidates who have been invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada now have 60 days to complete the document formalities. IRCC invited 919 PNP candidates to apply for Canadian immigration in the previous round of invite on March 30, 2022.

Why there are no CEC and FSWP draws so far?

In 2021, the IRCC’s goal of admitting as many in-Canada candidates as possible resulted in a massive backlog in the FSWP. IRCC predicts that processing some FSWP applications could take up to 36 months with the existing inventory. IRCC has kept the halt on Express Entry draws for FSWP candidates in order to get the processing time back to the six-month standard. According to the IRCC briefing; clearing the backlogs will require the first six months of 2022. Therefore, we are expecting that the CEC and FSWP draw will resume during spring/summer  this year, as per Honorable Minister Fraser of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

What is Express Entry Program?

Express Entry is an application algorithm that uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rate candidates’ profiles using a points-based system. Candidates who receive the top scores are given an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residency in Canada.

After ITA, the candidate submits the application, and an IRCC officer reviews it and decides. All the important documents will be required to process your application, along with the Biometrics and medical. The IRCC processing immigration officer will decide whether to conduct an interview or request additional documents.

If your application is approved, IRCC will send you a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document. Permanent residents who have been approved can then finish the landing process and start living in Canada.
