What Is a Refugee Travel Document?

A refugee travel document is a sort of paperwork that is granted to those who have been recognized as refugees for the purpose of international travelling. As a rule, travel documents for refugees are issued by the country where they are seeking refuge. Canadian refugee travel document is like a passport for non-Canadians who are based in Canada as a refugee.

As a member of the 1951 Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees (Geneva Convention), 145 nations provide a standard travel document that is normally blue in colour with two stripes at the upper left corner. The term “Travel Document” is normally written in English, French, and the language of the country from where the document originated, as well as the year of the convention on the document.
